The history of
Valentines day
Valentine’s Day, also known and referred to as Saint Valentine’s day is a day of love that we celebrate on 14 February. In history, people exchanged cards with loved ones, friends and family. In modern times, we also give gifts and flowers decorated and wrapped with heart shaped boxes and wrappping.
People have celebrated Valentine’s Day with thoughts of love since at least the 1300s. According to an old European legend, February 14 is the day when birds pair off each year to start their new families. The Roman Catholic Church honours two saints on the 14th of February, named Valentine. Both Saint Valentines were ancient Romans of the ad 200s who died for their Christian faith.
